We aren’t the measure of it all

How many times in church, VBS, or while we are worshiping are we reminded of Genesis 1:1

“In the beginning God created the heavens and earth.”

Everywhere we look we see signs of beautiful things God also created when he created mankind. Wouldn’t that make us beautiful as well? Absolutely, but so many times people don’t see this. Society today demands that we be ten times faster, stronger, and prettier than we were yesterday. In such a fast changing world it gets harder and harder to keep up. What are we missing then?

We tend to forget that “He counts the stars and calls them all by name.” (Psalms 146:4). What this tells me is that God created us all with PURPOSE. He planned out each and everything that has and will happen to me in my lifetime. God knew what challenges I was going to face, he planned for me to have to face them. He created me to face them, but why? God created me for the sole purpose of spreading His word and sharing my heart and soul as well as my love for Christ so that others may experience what God has done in my life and use that as a reason to know Him.

Psalm 145:8 says “The Lord is close to all who call on Him, yet, to all who call on Him in truth.” Like the other verse from Psalm say, God calls us by name and He KNOWS us. God is the designer and the creator of the universe, he knows every thought that runs through our mind, and he knows the true desires of our hearts. God doesn’t change, he will always be the designer and creator and has the insight to it all. What we wish for, what we hope for, and what we aspire to do. But God is the sole one that gets to make the final decision in what we actually and who we get to be.

So how do we get to where God wants us to be?

It takes effort, and all our heart and soul to be in it. It takes us making difficult decisions, cutting off old relationships, and most of all having faith in the Almighty. God created something so beautiful out of mere dust, wouldn’t it make sense for Him to create an even more beautiful plan for those He created? Exactly! Yes, He has such a beautiful plan for those that find their trust in Him!

God doesn’t ask for something that He hasn’t already given us. When we search for a PURPOSE for our life, we can find our answer in Him. Colossians 1:16 says “Everything got started in Him and finds it’s purpose in Him.” Without God, life makes no sense. We aren’t the measure of it all, but sometimes we forget that. It’s all about me, me, me. Not God, God, GOD.

We were made by God and for God and until we realize that, life will never make sense. God owns us, he saved us, and he’s the one that ultimately holds the owner’s manual. We will never know what all God has planned for each and every one of us, and we may not understand it either. We just need to trust in God and have faith that what He has planned for each of us is bigger and better than we ever imagined.

So when you start getting ready to make those usual New Year’s resolutions, think about what God would want from you, think about what God would expect from you. All He really wants from us is that we show love for His children, and we spread the word of the Gospel. So hug your neighbors, friends, and enemies. Show them you love them, and tell them about the greatest gift of all. That God saved you, and through Him you are able to love, and truly mean it.
